I am a licensed clinical health psychologist with private practices in both Manhattan and Westchester County. I specialize in cognitive behavioral therapy (mindfulness-based cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavior therapy), behavioral medicine, and nutritional psychology. My areas of clinical expertise include the use of evidence-based approaches in the treatment of psychological disorders, and in the treatment of psychological and behavioral issues related to experiencing a medical illness. Currently I also serve as the Bariatric Clinical Health Psychologist at The Center for Surgical Weight Loss at Stamford Hospital in Connecticut. I practice bariatric psychology in private practice providing pre-surgical evaluations and post-surgical psychotherapy. Nutritional assessment and counseling for psychological and metabolic health is available for all clients and is an integral part of treatment. I treat adults, adolescents, couples, and families.
I received my Ph.D. in Clinical Health Psychology from Yeshiva University's Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology and was trained in the cognitive behavioral model. I completed my doctoral and post-doctoral training at Columbia University Medical Center. My research and clinical training were in the area of health psychology and behavioral medicine, with a focus on health-behavior change, cornonary artery disease and depression, hypertension and anxiety, metabolic syndrome, mindfulness-based stress reduction, work-related stress management, and smoking cessation. In addition, I am a licensed registered nurse with fifteen years experience in the areas of cardiovascular disease, primary care medicine, oncology, palliative care, hospice care, women's health, public health, and psychiatry.I received a master's degree in Organizational Psychology from Columbia University's Teachers College. I am available for group and individual instruction of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction in the workplace.
